Prospective coring

It is often useful to follow up on an archaeological desk investigation with prospective coring. This field investigation quickly tests the archaeological expectations resulting from the desk investigation. Prospective coring determines where and to what extent the soil structure is intact and whether there are any promising areas.

The archaeological prospective coring can be expanded by increasing the number of bores per square meter, increasing the chances of actually finding archaeological indicators (pottery, charcoal, loam, etc.) and to determind the presence, nature, quality and size of archaeological object.
